Round 2 of the NSW Championships headed to Goulburn over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of May. This event was a combined event with the national series with competitors from all over Australia.

Team DCR Renascent qualified well after using the Friday as a test day. Car 111 qualified in 10th position in a massive field of the best sports sedans in the land.

Race one, Car 111 had a clean run finishing again inside the top 10. For the team this was a great achievement in and amongst the fellow national cars on track. With Saturday over, it left 2 races for the Sunday schedule.

Race two featured on Sunday and the team started in 10th position. Scott got a great start out of turn 1 up the hill and passed a few cars placing him in 8th spot maintaining this road position and on the exit of turn 13. Unfortunately, onto the straight and both rear axles broke – not one but both – ending the great run we were having in race 2.

Towed back to our pit garage, the Car 111 team quickly got under and over the issues. New axles were fitted and the car was race ready for race 3 however this would mean, as the team had a DNF in race 2,  they were starting at the back of the pack. Scott, using his head, allowed all the pack to get through turn 1 before slowly picking off cars over the first few laps. This then set him up for a great drive in Car 111 coming through the field picking off cars every lap. From a team point of view, this drive from the rear of the field was Scott’s best drive ever. He kept it clean and was not far off after 12 laps where he should have started to finish in 16th from 26 starters.

A great weekend  for Team DCR Renascent.

Next round is at SMP at Eastern Creek on the 31st of June and 1st of July 2021 being Round 3 of the NSW State Championships.
